Condition Based Monitoring Systems
Impact develops condition monitoring systems designed to provide the actionable data necessary to fully implement application-specific condition based maintenance strategies.
Examples of condition monitoring systems that Impact can provide are CBMi™, CorrSem™, and an embedded system for tracking the handling of assets.
Data Acquisition in an Industrial Environment - S2NAP™
The S2NAP™ is a data acquisition device that delivers unprecedented flexibility and power for wireless data acquisition and processing for asset management solutions in an industrial environment.
S2NAP can be used to acquire high speed dynamic data from many platforms including: Nuclear Power plants, Sewage Treatment Plants, Shipyards, Bearings, Diesel Compressors, and more. S2NAP provides a cost-effective means for acquiring and processing high-speed dynamic data. The device detects and processes machine vibration, displacement, and dynamic electrical parameters. S2NAP provides flexible wired or wireless network connectivity with industry standard or DoD (FIPS-140-2) secured networks. A completely flexible configuration of all data acquisition parameters and processing is performed over the network without the need to touch the installed device.
CBMi stands for intelligent Condition Based Maintenance and is a real-time monitoring system for tracking and assessing the health of critical machines & processes. CBMi measures physical parameters and uses advanced algorithms to analyze the data in real time. This information gets pushed up to higher levels to gain attention so that actionable early warnings related to developing faults are noticed as early as possible.

CBMi Clients:
The CBMi desktop client provides remote access to a suite of useful tools that can be used to organize, manage, and analyze data stored within the system.
CBMi is where you want to use it
The CBMi Client interfaces allow each type of user (maintainer, operator, supervisor, director, etc.) to interact with the data in a comfortable and efficient manner. Enterprise users can examine key performance indicators and generate reports, while the maintenance planner can use the information to plan assignments for the next day. Any user can use the desktop client or a web interface to display asset condition indicators and health information, and even drill down to isolate and examine potential faults.

Examples of where CBMi has been applied include:
Corrosion Monitoring Platform - CorrSem
Impact has developed a low-power corrosion sensing module for tracking corrosion and corrosion drivers on stationary and mobile assets that are difficult or expensive to inspect.

The CorrSem™ system is designed to collect, process, analyze and store data from a variety of electrochemical and environmental (T, P, %RH) sensing elements. Electrochemical corrosion sensing techniques include electrical resistance, electrochemical noise, and electrochemical impedance. The CorrSeM system is designed to operate for several years from two AA-sized battery cells through the use of low-power circuitry and intelligent sleep modes.

Condition-Based Maintenance strategy.
Impact Technologies, has developed a low-powered monitoring platform to enable low cost tracking of the handling and health of remote or hard to access assets. A small wireless electronic module tracks the shock/vibration and environment (temperature, humidity) that an asset has been subjected to during shipping, handling and storage. The information is used to assess the asset's health prior to being put into service. Example 'equipment' that is tracked includes missiles/munitions, sensitive/fragile electronics, chemicals, etc.

This platform is integrated into a customizable package used to satisfy the end-customer’s specific asset monitoring needs.
